Here are free spreadsheet files created using OpenOffice and compatible with both OpenOffice and Microsoft Excel. Each file contains both versions, although OpenOffice will read MS Excel files. Each file also includes a Read Me file with detailed instructions on how to use them.
Money Minder 2
A while ago I created an Expense Tracker to help users figure out their monthly bills and spending habits. While this was effective, the interface created a lot of work for the user. To remedy this I created the Money Minder. Instead of having to select each category and entry for bills and expenses, the user enters their monthly and quarterly bills, each due date, and average amount. The user can then type in their starting balance, pay day, average paycheck amount, and the Money Minder displays what finds they have available to spend on a day-by-day basis in calendar view. I joined a friendly coupon group on Facebook that shares and trades coupons and coupon information with other group members. In order to help users keep tabs on coupon expiration dates, I created this little coupon tracker.
Like the Expense Tracker, the Coupon Tracker allows the user to enter a description on what the coupon is for, allows the user to select the business or location that the coupon can be used at using a drop-down list, add a more detailed description, and enter the coupon's expiration date. The next field calculates how many days are left remaining from the current date. The following field is a date threshold and allows the user to enter a number for a warning. For example, one coupon might have 14 days left before it expires. If the user enters "10" in the warning date, then the warning will not appear immediately. When the coupon has 10 days left before expiring, the warning will appear on that date and every date thereafter until the entry has been removed. I allowed different threshold dates to be entered as some coupons or sale items may be seasonal, and the item's inventory may be depleted well before the coupon expires.
The Coupon Tracker also has user-definable categories similar to the Expense Tracker. The user can enter various stores and locations where they shop at the most, so repetitive entry is avoided by simply selecting their often-visited store from the drop-down list. This is a work in progress and will be updated frequently.
