Get the Desktop Version of Facebook on Your iPhone
Just recently I wanted to make some adjustments to friend's feeds regarding what I didn't want to see such as game updates, etc. When trying this on my iPhone using Safari, it was not possible since the mobile version doesn't support the editing of friend's feeds. While most mobile versions of popular web pages substitute the "m." in place of "www.", Facebook does not do this. If you were to simply Google the word "Facebook", the link in the search results show "www.facebook.com", but clicking the link only brings up the mobile version because it auto-detects that you're using an iPhone. Thanks to the mobile version of Chrome, you can get the full, non-mobile version of Facebook on your iPhone.
First, go to the App store on your iPhone and download Chrome (free).
First, go to the App store on your iPhone and download Chrome (free).
Launch the Chrome app, then head over to www.facebook.com and you will get the following screen:
It's got the typical look and feel of the mobile version and is noted by the "m." in the web address. Look at the screen shot below and note the icon in the red circle:
Click this icon on your Chrome browser, and you'll be presented with a drop-down list. From this list, click the entry of "Request Desktop Site". This will force the browser to display the current web page in the regular desktop version instead of the mobile version:
The portrait view looks a little congested, but you can simply rotate your phone and see the better-looking landscape view:
Now when you log in, you'll get the full desktop version!
Because of the iPhone's limitations, you won't be able to play Flash games, but you will be able to make certain adjustments here that aren't possible on the mobile version.
Now you'll still be able to breeze through the typical Facebook news posts and status updates, but when and if you need to make changes, you'll have that option available to you right away.
